I want to share a remark made by a Harmony client today. It has been a stressful month for her. She has had a string of illnesses, her mother has been in and out of the hospital and is now terminally ill, and she just took a whirlwind European vacation walking some 5-10 miles a day (no stretching) followed by a long sedentary plane ride home cramped in an economy class seat. (She’s 6 feet tall with loooong legs).
Lo and behold, she bent over to pick something up off the floor yesterday, and wham!, her back when into spasm.
Today, she faithfully showed up for her Pilates lesson, carrying high hopes of feeling better an hour later.
And…after some slow mobilizations of her hips and spine, some breath work and gentle stretching, she remarked that she felt a lot better. Then she said, “I was all stiff and out of Harmony”. The comment was both literal and figurative.
How often it is that we fall out of harmony with ourselves. We need healthy movement regularly – it balances us, connects us, organizes us…heals us!
