Dilla Mastrangelo is making a difference through movement. As a gifted teacher, motivator, and entrepreneur, she is in constant creative motion, integrating all that she can learn into finding new ways to help her clients achieve greater health and vitality.
Dilla embodies learning by doing. In 2008, she opened Harmony Pilates Studio with co-founder Sueann Fenchel as part of their ongoing commitment to bringing innovative movement methods to Pittsburgh. In pursuit of this mission, she is always asking herself, "What can I integrate into the Harmony methodology to make it better?" The Studio's practical, hands-on philosophy attracts people of all ages and backgrounds, and achieves a profound rate of success for its clients.
Dilla began using the Pilates Method as a young modern dancer nearly two decades ago. Recognizing the tremendous benefits of Pilates long before it hit mainstream, she completed comprehensive training programs with the leading teachers of the Method including Romana Kryzanowska at The Pilates Studio of New York, and Michele Larsson of Core Dynamics. A PMA credentialed Pilates instructor, Dilla is also certified in GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®, and holds a master of arts degree in dance and dance education from New York University.
Her joyful and resilient spirit is perhaps the secret ingredient in Dilla's remarkable capacity to help others believe in themselves and reach new levels of awareness and energy. Her vision is evident in the array of services offered at Harmony, as well as in the Studio's highly recognized Pilates teacher training program, which has prepared nearly one hundred teachers for certification to date.
Dilla is the author of a comprehensive Pilates teacher training manual, scheduled for release later this year. Dilla is also a Level 1 teacher of the Franklin Method, recognized as the cutting edge among movement professionals. Eric Franklin's ,method is focused on all applications of imagery, the deep benefits of the mind/body connection, and function based on evolutionary design.
As a lifelong learner, Dilla believes in improving whatever she sets out to do, and draws on every opportunity for continued self-discovery. In addition to the body of work she has already created in her professional life, Dilla is an accomplished pianist, equestrian and dancer, and has recently developed a passion for tennis. She lives in Shadyside, Pennsylvania with her two equally energetic children.

One of the first things that strike you about Sueann Fenchel is her deep caring for others. Her whole-hearted compassion and respect for whomever she is working with, creates an energy that seems to make any movement possible for her clients to learn.
"It's serious business when someone entrusts their body to us. Our clients deserve our very best," Sueann says of her daily role as a teacher and movement innovator at Harmony Pilates Studio, which she co-founded with Dilla Mastrangelo in 2008.
Sueann's love of movement began years before she dreamed of running a business. After receiving a scholarship to Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, she moved to Montreal and pursued her desire to dance. The year she spent studying and performing in this Canadian cultural center was a very memorable one for her. When the school closed, she returned to Pittsburgh and continued to dance with local choreographers, and also began to teach for Civic Light Opera, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Ellis School.
During this time, Sueann discovered how much she enjoyed teaching, and she began to explore other methods of movement and healing arts. This led her to try Pilates in 1999 and she knew immediately she wanted to become a teacher of the Method. She received her certification in Pilates through Santa Fe-based Core Dynamics one year later, and eagerly began teaching with Dilla in Pittsburgh.
When Sueann sampled Gyrotonic, she again instantly recognized its tremendous benefits and received her certifications in GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® in rapid succession. Her certification in massage therapy further enhanced her knowledge of human anatomy and physical function.
Now, less than a decade later, as co-owner of Pittsburgh's premiere movement studio, Sueann continues to be driven by finding new, efficient ways of moving and helping people accomplish what they want to do in their lives.
"I love being a teacher of movement, and serving people in that way. It's about each person, and encouraging them to keep going, to keep moving. I want people to get the absolute most from their experience with us at Harmony."
Sueann and her husband live in Shadyside and she delights in being able to walk to work. She's devoted to her family and friends and her genuine love of others includes a passion for animals. Her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Buster is a lucky recipient of Sueann's abundant attention.
As a business owner, Sueann looks forward to contributing to the health of the community, including encouraging other female entrepreneurs who seek out the healing moves of Harmony.
