At Harmony, you choose how you wish to develop your practice of Pilates and GYROTONIC®. Private instruction with a Harmony teacher is the best way to begin. Duet and small class options are also available. We recommend at least one session per week, and encourage you to try different teachers and techniques to discover what best fits your goals and preferences.

About the Methods

The Pilates Method was developed by the legendary German athlete and physical rehabilitation trainer, Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s. It is a powerful form of exercise and movement education that offers clients new heights of flexibility and function, improved body-mind awareness, core strength, and enhanced breathing and balance, all within the context of a joyful, moving workout. The Pilates Method encompasses more than 300 specifically designed exercises for a full body conditioning. Even after one lesson, many find they sit and stand taller, move more gracefully, and are eager to experience more.

The GYROTONIC® Methodology, developed in the 1980’s by Hungarian dancer Juliu Horvath combines core strengthening with flowing, circular movement drawn from swimming, dance and martial arts. GYROTONIC® exercise stimulates the body’s energetic centers and internal organs while conditioning all the muscles and joints of the body. Harmony uses Horvath’s exercise and ingenious equipment to help clients achieve multi-dimensional freedom of movement, which in turn makes them less injury prone and better conditioned for every other activity in life.
